Did you know that dried apricots provide more nutrients, ounce per ounce, than fresh apricots? These naturally sweet dried fruits are a source of fibre, potassium, antioxidants and vitamins C and A. Bassé Dried Apricots are tender, juicy, and bursting with flavour, with no sugar added.
But health benefits aside, apricots are one of the staple dried fruits in our pantry because of their kid-approved taste. Sweet and soft, they are the perfect “candy” to be eaten on their own or integrated into baked goods and meals for a good-for-you dose of sweetness, flavour and texture.
“Dried apricots are a go-to snack because they offer a nutrition boost while satisfying your sweet tooth. Additionally, they are a school/camp safe snack that doesn’t need to be refrigerated,” says Bonnie Zylberberg, Bassé’s Product Developer and Registered Dietitian. “I love eating then chopped up in my morning oatmeal or using them as a base in an energy bar recipe.”

Easy, No-Bake, Nut-Free Dried Apricot Pumpkin Bars
In a food processor:
1) Add 1/2 cup of oats and grind into a flour, put aside in a bowl.
2) Add 1 cup of roasted (or raw) Bassé Pumpkin Seeds and grind into a flour, put aside in the bowl with the oats.
3) Add 2 cups of Bassé Dried Apricots and pulse until finely chopped.
4) Add the oat and pumpkin flours back into the processor with the chopped dried apricots along with 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
5) Blend until the mixture forms a sticky ball (add water by the teaspoon to help it stick together if needed).
6) Using your hands, spread in a 9×9” pan that’s been lined with parchment paper (wet your hands to make it easier to spread).
7) Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm and then cut into squares or bars.
Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
